Valentines From Above

What if you went to the mailbox on February 14th and found a Valentine from your Heavenly Beloved? What a unique surprise! As you quickly open the envelope and begin to read the card, you notice once again all the promised ways He wants to show His love to you. You might smile, hold the card close to your heart while reminiscing about how blessed you are that the two of you found each other.

What might the card say?

To my dearest Beloved:

I will never leave or forsake you.
I will always provide for you.
I will encourage you through everything you face.
I will always be honest with you and tell you what I think.
I have already secured a way for us to be together forever.

Then, as you check the mailbox once again, you discover a red heart-shaped box still inside. Upon opening it, you find small heart-shaped candies with words of love written on them. To the side, you notice a handwritten note saying: These are a few of the expressions of love I have for you. Eat them and remember Me.

What might the candies say?

I love you!
You are beautiful.
You are mine.
You make me smile.
I am crazy for you.
You are special to Me.
You Rock!

As you savor the sweetness of His words, you also pledge your undying love back to Him again as well.

What a wonderful love story the two of you have had. Yes there have been difficult times. Times when you did not understand your Beloved’s ways and arguments on your end would ensue. Sometimes, you crossed your arms and refuse His wise leadership. But being able to be yourself without the worry of separation was one of the qualities you admire and love the most. He always gave you time to understand that His ways have a higher purpose then yours. But no matter what you have been through together, you have always come out feeling thankful for each other’s presence and steadfast heart. No … your life together has not been easy but your commitment will expand over this lifetime and then forevermore. And … it is in those experiential trusts that you find your rest.

Will you allow God to be your Beloved Valentine now and beyond?

Use this Valentine’s Day to evaluate and recommit your life to the one who loves you eternally. Go ahead and open up your heart once again to what He has to say to you from His Holy Word. Tell Him how you are crazy about Him too! Then get ready to sense His loving arm around you as He responds to your sentiments of love. I promise you, it is a risk worth taking.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
John 3:16-17

Relax and Enjoy God

FROG -Fully Rely On God

Christianity does not have to be so difficult to understand. Sometimes it can be very simple like this poem I wrote while listening to a pastor friend of mine preach.

Nightlight

I am a little nightlight,
Who shines forth the word of God
So others can see the way to go
And not have to stumble in the dark.
But if I forget to turn me on
And shine forth God’s grace and mercy
Then please put me in my corner
And plug me into the King of Glory.

Basically, God has given us two commandments to follow. Love God and love your fellowman especially those who are fellow believers with you.

Matthew 22:36-40
Amplified Bible (AMP)

36 Teacher, which kind of commandment is great and important (the principal kind) in the Law? [Some commandments are light—which are heavy?]
37 And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).
38 This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.
39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.
40 These two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the Law and the Prophets.

The word use for love here is “agapao” and is translated as “beloved”. A beloved is someone who we love, cherish and adore. Someone we are passionate about and devoted to. Although we may have to use wisdom when loving others, with God we can pull out all the stops.

When you start to really love another person, how does that change your attitudes and actions from day to day? Mainly, you will do whatever it takes to be with that person and you will do whatever takes to please them as well.

Does God deserve any less consideration?

We tend to cut ourselves off from the only one that can really help us. If we put our trust in friends and family alone, then we may miss the wisdom we really need to succeed. There are many times when God wants to advise us through the power of the Spirit alone. Nothing else will do. If we will develop our relationship with our Beloved and learn how to listen for His counsel, then when we get into a sticky situation, we will already know Him and how He operates within us.

Although God is sympatric with a busy life, He also knows at what point He is being ignored. He wants us to be out and about. However, He doesn’t want a wave of our hand with a “Hi God. See ya later” each morning as we leave the house. Later will never come unless we are vigilant.

Genuine growth in a relationship with our Beloved has to come before we will enjoy and appreciate more fully His Presence in our lives. I challenge you to relax and enjoy your Beloved today. Have a cup of coffee or tea with Him. Talk to Him about your day or whatever is on your mind. It doesn’t have to be serious all the time. It can be funny or even silly like telling Him a joke you heard. Your beloved is waiting for you to share your heart with Him so the two of you can grow together.
